Evolution RAGE 1-B Circular Saw UK Review
This is our detailed review of the Evolution RAGE 1-B circular saw. This is a popular choice for many UK buyers so please read on to find out why that is the case.
The RAGE 1-B circular saw is a good all rounder, or multi-purpose circular saw that buyers clearly like once they have bought and used it. It has an RRP of £69.99 but almost always you can get a discounted offer online. That of course makes it affordable. In terms of quality, thousands of online UK buyers have rated this saw with an 80% buyer satisfaction rating.
So when you combine the affordable price, with the good buyer rating then clearly Evolution have a winning combination. The saw is bought by many tradesmen and is also popular with many UK home owners, who like to do their own projects or as it is better known DIY.
RAGE vs FURY Explanation
Evolution do two main lines of saw products. These are the Evolution RAGE and the Evolution FURY. I am often asked what is the difference between the two. As a general guideline the FURY range is primarily aimed at the DIY or home market, whereas the RAGE is aimed at tradesmen.
THE EVOLUTION BRAND
Evolution is a popular brand with the motto that they make power tools for professionals. They are an English company based in Sheffield and the company was founded in 1992.
They aim their products at tradesmen such as builders, metal workers, carpenters, joiners, plumbers, electricians, gardeners, roofers and even stone masons. Many UK consumers also make this their number one brand choice as they do great tools at really good prices.

Who Should Consider Buying This Saw?
If like me you are in the market for a good quality but affordable circular saw, this RAGE1-B from the Evolution brand is well worth a closer look. If you visit most DIY stores in the UK, you will see these on display, and they have become a very popular brand for various types of electric saws.
Personally I think they get the balance right between good quality (which to me means a reliable product) and also the price point. They are not the cheapest on the UK market, but they are certainly not the most expensive. I own a few Evolution tools and I really like using them and I know that there is really good support from their customer service teams, if you ever need that.
I worked as a builder for many years and mainly I used Dewalt tools, but for saws and stands I would now prefer Evolution. They are a lot cheaper and the quality is excellent. So if you are a guy looking for a great multi-purpose saw, then this one fits that bill.
If you don't want to spend over £50 then a cheaper circular saw like the Silverline 845135 is a better option. That one is around £35 but the buyer rating is also a lot lower at 68% satisfaction. It is still OK though for basic wood and plastic straight cutting.
MAIN PRODUCT REVIEW
Rather than write a lot of words about this saw I have included a short video below, that shows you a really good overview of the RAGE1-B model, along with the key features.
Short Video Review of the Evolution RAGE1-B Saw
Here is a good overview of this saw from Screwfix which I found really useful.
Important Features & Benefits
Size and Weight
It measures 36 x 28 x 28 cm and weighs 5.4 Kg and it is a corded product.
The Blade
This saw has a maximum cutting depth of 60 mm through wood. It comes with a 185 mm RAGE multipurpose TCT blade (20 teeth) with a 185 mm blade diameter and 20 mm bore diameter. The blade can cut wood, plastic, aluminium and even light steel (nails)
If you need to cut concrete or something like a granite worktop, then you will need to buy the Evolution diamond blade to be able to do that.
You can use other blades with this as long as they are 185 mm and a 20 mm bore. You can of course buy rings to size the bore which work really well.
Bevels & Tilts
This saw does have a 0-45 degrees bevel tilt function. That will allow you cut a bevel along something like a skirting board. Most likely though the wood will need to be clamped or held, as you will need both hands on the saw.
Adjustable Cutting Depth
For the plumbers or electricians among you, the good news is that you can adjust the cutting depth. That's ideal for cuts through floorboards etc.
Our Verdict on the Evolution RAGE 1-B Saw
As you can see the buyer satisfaction rating is very high at 92% and there are not a lot of complaints about this circular saw.
If you have never used an Evolution product before, then I think you will be pleasantly surprised if you do.
If you are in the market for a small compact good quality saw, then this one tops my list every single time. It has all the important features for most jobs and all powered by a strong and powerful motor.
If you are doing some sort of project like making a wooden gate, building a fence, putting down decking or wooden floors, then owning a circular saw will save you hours of work and also makes those jobs a lot less frustrating.
This model can handle all those with some considerable ease.
